Hello world! I’m Jeremy Thompson, but you can just call me J.T., most folks do. I’m a man who’s been immersed in the world of tobacco for over 25 years, and I’d love to share a bit about myself with you.

I was born in North Carolina, in the heart of tobacco country, and even as a child, the rich, earthy scent of drying tobacco leaves was a familiar fragrance. I live here now in the same beautiful region, after spending a significant chunk of my life traveling the world, learning about tobacco, and sharing my expertise.

After finishing my studies in Agricultural Science at North Carolina State University, I went on to work for some of the biggest names in the tobacco industry, including Altria and British American Tobacco. My roles ranged from field agronomy, where I had the privilege of working closely with farmers, to the research and development department, where I contributed to the innovation and perfection of tobacco processing techniques.

In 2020, I was recognized by the Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum (GTNF) with the prestigious ‘Golden Leaf Award’ for my contributions to sustainable tobacco farming practices. This award meant a lot to me, and I consider it one of my major accomplishments. I’m not one to brag, but I’m genuinely proud of the work I’ve done to make the tobacco industry more sustainable and farmer-friendly.

When I’m not knee-deep in tobacco leaves or jet-setting around the globe, I’m a man of simple pleasures. I have a small collection of vintage tobacco pipes, which I find both aesthetically pleasing and a connection to the past. I also have a love for hiking the beautiful trails around North Carolina, which provides a beautiful balance to the busy life of a tobacco professional.

As for my contact information, I love to hear from folks interested in the industry or just curious about tobacco! You can reach me at mailto:[email protected]

Remember, whether it’s about the history of tobacco, its cultural significance, or the science behind it, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s learn and share together. After all, tobacco is not just a plant; it’s a lifestyle, a tradition, and a global phenomenon! Cheers!
